Welcome To HeartStint.com

Welcome to our heart stint or heart stent site. We hope you will find useful information here that will help you in your journey toward understanding what heart stints are. One word of explanation. The word “stent” is really spelled with and “e” instead of an “i,” but if you’re like me spelling was not something that I conquered in school. So the first time I went looking for information on the web about heart stents, I spelled the word with and “i,” hence, heart stint, which is most likely the way you may have spelled it to find this web site.

I have five stents in my heart. I am truly bionic. I seem to be doing well these days, as I write this post. I am not a Medical Doctor, although I do have two doctorates, both in theological related areas. However, I do, because of my own experience, get may questions about my own heart stint/stents. So I thought writing a blog to share these experiences and provide other information might be helpful. So click around and see what articles we have to offer on general heart related subjects. Some are written by other authors and some written by me.

My friend had a stint put in and is taking a full dosege of aspirin a day. Should she be taking baby aspirin?

Sarah,

Sometimes a cardiologist will begin with a larger dosage of aspirin right after a heart stint placement and then reduce the dosage later. If you friend is unsure of the dosage, she or he should check with their cardiologist.

My father had a stent put in last September. He is experiencing spots on his body and the doctor says it’s psoriasis and treating, but to no avail. he was on plavix, they put him on some other medication that has some horrible side affects such a lymphoma and kidney or liver (can’t remember what)….anyway,
my point is this….My father feels worse now than he ever did. He’d love to have the stent removed, but that’s not an option. he is also wearing a pace maker/defribilator too…..He says he’d rather be put out of his misery….Also…He has 1/3 of his heart is damaged and “dead” according to his cardiologist when he was 54 and he really doesn’t know why my father is alive to begin with. He is now 62 years old. They told the family in Sept that my dad had a year to live and now his reg. doctor gave him a two year prognosis…..

Everyone believes he is experiencing a reaction to the coated stent…What do you think. He never had psoriasis before. He also has a burning sensation on his chest area where these spots are. Also, he is having major hot & cold spells…

Can you enlighten me some. I am very concerned and his doctors don’t seem to give much info.

Do you think that this coated stent is:
(1) capable of causing allergic reactions to the coating
(2) causing his problems or something else
(3) what’s on the coating….
(4) any info you can give me to help would be great…

Patty,

I am sorry for the pain of your father. Life should not be so complicated.

Because I am not a medical practitioner and this site is for educational purposes only, I can not reply directly to your concerns. You can Google your concerns and may find some information helpful to you. There is an advanced feature to Google that allows you to search for a phrase, look for it just to the right of the search box at google.com and then enter your phrase in the with the exact phrase box.

I trust the condition of your dad improves. Have you considered getting a second or third medical opinion on his condition?

In July during my routine visit to my Card. he perscribed Lisnopril, as one side of my heart does not pump as well as the other. I had a reaction to it, flu like symptoms (shortly after started taking it). Med. was stopped & tried Adacant. On Auggust 28th was taken to the hosp., admitted, & the next day had a stint implanted. Since returning home I have had a persistent cough. Not a congested cough, not producing anything, just a dry tickle in the back of my thorat. We thought possibly from new med. So stopped taking it a week ago. I still have the cough, it’s not constant but still there & sometimes I get to coughing & get strangled/lose my breath. Could it be the med. or possibly something else? Any advice?
